Website Design & Development for Schertzer Law

Overview

Mr. Gerhard Schertzer practices law serving Toronto in estate litigation, international law, and wills cases. Mr. Schertzer’s goal was to establish a strong online presence with a visually appealing, user-friendly website that reflected his professionalism and expertise. I was engaged as a remote web designer to design and develop his website and streamline his digital operations.

The Challenge

Mr. Schertzer required a website that could serve as a digital storefront for his legal services. The design needed to be professional and intuitive. Additionally, the website had to be easily manageable by the client, with a stable hosting environment and streamlined communication tools.

My Approach

I began by researching legal industry website standards to ensure the design aligned with user expectations while maintaining a unique identity.

First, I designed a professional logo that reflects Mr. Schertzer’s identity and values.

Then, I created a clean, modern layout that emphasized clarity, ease of navigation, and strong visual hierarchy. Custom graphics were incorporated to enhance the website’s aesthetic and improve user engagement.

For the development, I chose Bootstrap as the CSS framework and WordPress as the CMS, enabling the client to easily update and manage his website content. I ensured that the website was responsive and provided a seamless user experience across all devices.

Beyond the website itself, I handled server management and hosting by setting up AWS infrastructure. I installed and configured Nginx on an EC2 instance, optimizing it as a secure and scalable web server.

Additionally, I set up Google Workspace email accounts to enhance client communications.

I also provided comprehensive documentation to help the client easily update website content.

The Solution

The final deliverables included:

The integration of WordPress empowered the client to independently manage content, and the Google Workspace setup enhanced communication efficiency.
